Windows 10
Has anyone began the conversion to 10? Problems, comments? Do you know if it loads on top of say, 7, or replaces all of the older version? Thanks, Jim

A few problems I've run into in Windows 10:

I observed playing video games under 10 was considerably slower than under 7.
On two cases, my Windows 10 machine developed a vague error "Your computer is having trouble starting Windows." There was no fix, only remedy was to reinstall.
I would hazard to guess the summer launch is a "soft launch" to see what major problems are out there, and get them squared away by October in time for the holiday spending season.
On a positive note; I did experience a drastic speed improvement overall upgrading from 7 to 10. The computers all boot much faster and applications open faster. Plus Windows 10 fresh install takes a lot less disk space than Windows 7 fresh install - that's important for laptops with a small solid state drives.
Synchronizing multiple computers works better than it did under 8, many more things can be synchronized now.
I haven't experienced any of these issues you described while running Win 10 (I assume you have the latest build - 10130). The Start menu works every time I click on it and I have never encountered the error "Your computer is having trouble starting Windows." in any of the Tech Preview builds. I can't comment on the speed of video games since I'm not a gamer.
On forums that I follow I see lots of people that post problems they have with the various Win 10 builds. Many times I don't see the same problems so those issues may be an incompatibility with some particular piece of hardware or software that they have in their machine.
Personally, I think the OS is pretty stable at this point but I don't plan to upgrade any of my Win 7 or Win 8.1 machines because there's nothing that can be done in Win 10 that I can't already do with my present machines so I see no benefit to upgrading. I'll wait until I build or buy another computer and will probably have Win 10 on it.
