Windows 10

I installed 10, seemed great at first, several good features not on 7

A couple days later, it the same as crashed, black screens everywhere, w/ an alarm sounding that could not be turned off. The reason given was that my pc contained malware/spyware that win 10 will not tolerate.
After messing w/ it for a while, I was able to get to the page that lets you change back to 7, but only after you answer questions why you are changing back.
Thru is all, I gather that MS is just experimenting w/ 10, and fix the problems as they come in.
At any rate, the change back to 7, was simple, and took only about 20 minutes, much faster than the change to 10.
And my pc is working quite well, and faster now, despite have spyware/malware problems ??

They are totally getting away from the original intention of a computer. To make your life easier by having an electronic way to compile info, write letters, do your pictures, find info on the net, calculate things, keep track of stuff etc.

Nowadays you spend more time dealing with all the Microsoft nonsense than you do using the machine for its intended purpose.

Maybe I'll get Win 10 one day but not until I know I can easily get rid of all the above mentioned 4 letter word for a smelly substance that falls from the underside of the north end of a southbound bulls tail!! :B

We had three Windows XP high end DELL laptops, two WIN 7 laptops and two WIN8.1 laptops... Had to put he WIN XP machines off to the side and upgraded all of the others when WINs sent me the go date...

Everything except the WIN 7 machines went without issues. We had to take Win 7 machines back to their original setups and after that they updated to WIN10 just fine.

The only problems I have noticed here on WIN 8.1 machines is the SHUTDOWN procedure has changed from the beginning upgarde where I can not completely SHUTDOWN with just mouse clicking the word shutdown from the ystem page. To completely shutdown I have to open the lid and press the START BUTTON for a few seconds...

My LAPTOPs have always been operated in DOCKING MODE running multiple monitors, with external keyboards and other USB external connection items... Only open the laptop lids to startup, then close the lid once I get to the login page...

The new WIN10 OS has been screaming for me ever since... My WIN8.1 Laptops all boot to the login screen in less than one minute now...

I am still running my MS OFFICE 2007 software including OUTLOOK. The only program I lost was one of my AUTOCAD lookalike CAD program LIBRA OFFICE which was sort of a MS VISIO lookalike where I did alot of drawings and such. I am just now thinking about update to a LIBRA OFFICE Ver 5.1 that runs on WIN10 or perhaps move to something called SMARTDRAW...

I still have a ton of thing left on the WIN XP PRO High end DELL laptops and not sure what I can do with them... All of the really important things where backup on external USB hard drives and are available for WIN 10 so all is not lost. I just had alot of external programs for my other hobby like Ham Radio and Family Tree research haha...

I still let the MS UPGRADEs do their thing...

I still have many USB external Hard drives with many photos and other important PRFs work and hobby related than can easily accessed and updated as external drives when connected...

My RV trailers both use the external monitor screens, keyboard, mouse, sound, and other USB connections (including WIFI printer). This allows me to grab my laptop and hit the road. Everything goes with me on trips more or less and only takes about 5 minutes to setup...

When I am on my HAM Radio alerts I am using the dual 24-inch monitors like here at the house. Kinda of impressive sitting on a hard board back in the unused tent bed on my OFF-ROAD POPUP setup...

So far so good and pleased with WIN 10. I do operate it in WIN 7 mode however - Could not even think about using all of the OPEN WINDOWS. My screen is very familiar to me with the tool bar across the bottom and a few ICON down the left side of the screen and my favorite night scenes doing their screen saver mode.. When friends come by they always say "I thought you was running WIN 10 !!!'

I have upgraded one of our four computers and have not had a TECH problem. I have several operator problems and I feel it was easier to use than W8. The other three have W7 to W7 Pro and the biggest problem we have is with Yahoo thinking that I need their help ALL THE TIME and it makes idiotic suggestions constantly.

Sometimes there are things beyond our control and if I can get done what I need to do, well then OS is whatever the programmer wants it to be.

All my old stuff works including Office for Home and Student 2013 and Acrobate Pro 2011.

FWIW, as a casual-non-business user....I started with Milenium, went to XP (new machine) and now run Win7 on my latest. Very happy with it...at my usage level,no need to upgrade to 10 or anything else...however, when I get a new machine it will come with Win10 and I'll deal with it then.

Don, I started out on Windows XP then Windows 7 and recently bought a new laptop with Windows 10. With Windows 10, I am lost as how to manage my photos and can't figure out or find a lot of things because everything is so different. This Classic Shell you mention, is it usable for the less capable users such as myself or does it require advanced ability to set it up on my computer. Will it make my stuff look more familiar? Thanks for any help.

Since windows 8, I've been using "Classic Shell" to avoid dealing with the tiled desktop BS. It's the only way I can get anything done. It's freeware and indispensable.

Went from 7 to 10 with Office 2010, no functional issues. Just frustration at trying to figure out what the tool names changed to and where to find things. Get constant reminder that I don't have currant Office, offers for discount on purchase.
