Gee I started with DOS, then Windows 3, then 3.1 then..........
If I wanted to change something internally I could do a little hex editing. Anyone remember what that is? Anyone remember DOS? Ok I'm showing my age but that's ok, I'm younger than a lot of you guys here! Haha! :B
I'm still using XP on my laptop and I have 7 on my desktop unit. Works just fine. Win 7 is good and doesn't harass me to death. The computer is for my use, not for them to try to pick my pocket with idiotic so called reminders of junk I don't need or want.
Why mend what ain't broken? I hear all the horror stories about the automatic upgrades, the invasive popup messages, backdoor sending data to who knows where, constant nag screens in your face etc etc ad nauseum...
Who needs that nonsense? They can keep it.
I'd look at Win 10, but don't feel like putting up with all the garbage that goes with it.
They are totally getting away from the original intention of a computer. To make your life easier by having an electronic way to compile info, write letters, do your pictures, find info on the net, calculate things, keep track of stuff etc.
Nowadays you spend more time dealing with all the Microsoft nonsense than you do using the machine for its intended purpose.
Maybe I'll get Win 10 one day but not until I know I can easily get rid of all the above mentioned 4 letter word for a smelly substance that falls from the underside of the north end of a southbound bulls tail!! :B
Did you read my question????????????????????????
If you want to rant about Microsoft, start your own thread.
Gosh not intended to be a rant.
Sorry if you took it in offence.
Certainly not intended that way.
And yes I read the question, and thought that any info, for or against, was pertinent to your request.
