I agree completely with a large trash can for W8 ... Like OP, I bought it by default, and can't stand it.
SO, my ultimate fix was to buy another HD (SSHD actually) and dump W8 completely. Installed a W7 OEM Pro and love it. Will keep this one as long as possible. MS lost me if it can't produce something like W7, or even back to the all-time best XP again.
Sometimes a manufacturer really makes a beautiful product, then walks away from it and does something as stupid as W8. I know, some of you like it, but that's not what makes a product successful - if you find a 'niche product', keep it and simply upgrade its speed and ability to function. But to change it a radically (many programs and extras become non-operational) ... then all that does is upset a lot of return customers. Of all people I know, about one percent like W8 ... the rest are spending money replacing W8 with other OS or even MAC systems that MS could have put in the bank.
A like mind was GM a few year ago - had the best van on the market (Safari) and stopped making it, same with the X-cab PU this year. Although that might change and the Double Cab will replace it. But that size is way too perfect for too many things to disappear. In fact, so far it's only available in the 1500, no 2500HD and up level.
