I just tried installing Word and Excel 97 on my Win 8.1 machine running the setup in compatibility mode for Windows 98 and they both installed and seem to work fine. Word 97 actually seems to work better than Word 2002 as it doesn't seem to need to run as administrator.
I do not want to hijack, but would dure like to know the general steps to tell Martha to take to run word and excell from the Office 97 disk. She has W8, not W8 Pro and not 8.1 yet - does this matter?
Mockturtle, she uses LibreOffice, albeit grudgingly. It was hard to learn how to print mailing labels in Libre.
