Steps to install Office 97 in Win 8: (Same to install Office XP->Word 2002)
This works the same way on Win 8 or 8.1, Pro doesn't matter.
- Put CD in drive, if the installer automatically comes up, exit out of it
- Open File Explorer
- Double-click on the CD drive
- Find the setup.exe file and right-click on it
- Select Properties
- On the Properties dialog box, click on the Compatibility tab
- Put a checkmark in the box labeled "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
- In the Dropdown menu below the checkbox, select "Windows 98 / Windows Me"
- Click on Apply then OK
- Double-click on the setup.exe to run the installer
This works the same way on Win 8 or 8.1, Pro doesn't matter.
