I see this posted on this and other forums all the time but I disagree that the Win 8 interface is "optimized" for touch and challenge anyone making this statement to tell me what is easier or "optimized" while using Win 8 with touch. I have used Win 8/8.1 on systems with mouse/keyboard and systems that were touch only and while the Win 8 touch interface is usable on a touch only device (in my case a tablet) it is far from optimized and I find pretty much everything easier to do on my Win 8 systems using a mouse/keyboard then on my tablet that is touch only.
I'd say that the Win 8 was designed to be used either with mouse/keyboard or touch (or both combined) but there's no way it is optimized for touch.
I have to agree with Strollin. FYI, my wife who is anti technology but being a nurse is nowhere near technology stupid sat down at my 8.1 desktop for the first time today. I really expected to hear her call my name to find something. When she was done she tracked me down in the office and said "I don't understand what all the complaints about Windows 8 is all about". Granted she did not really dig into it but she used the internet, jumped over to Outlook and reviewed a Powerpoint I was working on.
