Windows update before hell freezes over

One thing some people have overlooked is the sharing that Windows does. Go to Update and Security in settings and check to see what options are allowed. I turned off Delivery Optimization to clear any data sharing back to other PCs. This is something to check on a regular basis as it has been known to "mysteriously" turn back on by itself. Allowing sharing can seriously degrade the update process in some cases. You can also check how much Microsoft has sent by looking at the activity monitor ( last line) on the optimization page.
