Winegard Anser Semiautomatic Satellite Dish

I purchased the Winegard Anser satellite dish, and within 15 minutes after removing it from the box, I was watching my DirecTV. It acquired the 101 satellite flawlessly.

But in reading the enclosed documentation, I read that it will also acquire the 119 satellite. The manual says that the 119 satellite is International programming.

What receiver must I have to receive and decode the information from the 119 satellite?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Doug S.
  • The DirecTV 119 satellite is about 34 degrees above the horizon in Cosby so you should have a pretty good shot at it.
  • Thanks much, Bill. We can usually count on you to provide good info on technical issues.

Now all I have to do is to find out if I can see 119 from my location in Cosby, TN. 119 is rather low, and I'm in a valley......
  • The Anser is designed to receive the DirecTV programming on 119 (or the Dish programming on 119). If you have a subscription to the DirecTV International programming you could re-point the Anser to 119 and watch that and then re-point the Anser to the 101 to watch everything else.
