Sure, it's pretty clear. A new antenna works better than a 20 year old antenna which was also likely damaged. OK, Jack wins, I cannot argue that.
The OP may or may not be able to tell whether the channel 7 is weak or not compared to other channels unless his TV has a meter (neither of mine do but some do). The fact that is works and the OP is happy is really all that matters. I happen to be in Las Vegas where NBC 3 is broadcast on VHF 2 and I know the Jack would not do a good job in this market.
