If you can go up on the roof you next step is to go to the area where the cables enter the base and remove the top cover plate (4 screws). Inside you will see the control cable (center cord) and you need to, very gently, pull that cable from the inside until you find the 6-pin connector just like the one plugged into your controller inside. It might be loose but even if it is not, unplug and check for corrosion. I recommend you put a dab of di-electric grease in the connection after unplugging and pluggin in a few times. Hopefully, when this is done you will re-gain communications and all will be good. You should then do a Calibrate EL after completion. However, you can also try this before you do anything else to see if it will clear the error message. If the dish will perform the Calibrate EL routine you will be back in business but I would still go up on the roof and get some di-electric in that connection. That connection is a weak point in the setup on the older Trav'lers which appears to have been addressed in later Trav'lers.
