Winegard g2 plus

In the instructions they say you MUST use the provided 25' cable. In the trouble shooting specs to change rg6 cable under certain problems. I'm thinking 25' is too short, so has anyone with a G2+ used a 50' cable?
  • My Pathway X2 came with a 25 ft cable too. I've been running a 50 ft cable since 'forever'. I'm actually considering getting a 100 ft cable to try out.

I would not connect multiple sections of 25 ft cable. Remember that these things don't like to have switches, etc anywhere in the cable path as that degrades the signal and power transmission.

I would suggest that you visit your good friend 'Amazon' and get a 50 ft cable to try out. Amazon is where I buy all my cable. RG6 is what you want.
  • On a G2+ the power and signal cable are one in the same. Sort of why I'm leaning to this unit.
  • I thought it was too good to be true. My `old' G2 requires a separate power cable and the one provided is 50 ft. as is the signal cable. 25 feet may be OK in most circumstances BUT if in a wooded area 50 feet might be better to clear the trees.
Is there an option to connect a separate power cable to the G2+ so a 50 ft. signal cable can be used for signal only?
I may be over my head electronically; just asking.
  • If you can hook up using the 25 ft cable and it works, add the other 25 ft or change to a 50ft cable and see if it still works. If so you should be good to go.. My PathwayII works ok with a 100ft cable, they say not over 50 ft
  • It is most likely a precaution due to voltage drop on the coaxial cable.
You could move the power inserter closer to the dish, run a 120 volt extension cord to power it up.
You could try using a longer cable to see what results you have.
