You are correct about 1 satellite at a time and how it would or would not record with a DVR, except the Pathway will not work with any receiver other that a 211/411 model so a dual tuner DVR would not work anyway. You can make the 211 a single tuner DVR and it will still be fully functional recording from the necessary satellite. It's just a matter of choice. Many would not want to have an antenna that they describe as "a pain to setup" so they choose an automatic solution.

It appears that this unit can only see one satellite at a time. So you couldn't record one show while watching a different show. Maybe you could if both programs were on the same satellite.

I've read some of the reviews, and watched some of the YouTube vids. My 1004 antenna and tripod are a pain to setup, but these portable dishes don't offer the same functionality. Maybe the next generation.

We've been running it constantly since November and it's been working fine, no issues. The ability to choose western arc or eastern arc is a tremendous advantage over the Tailgater.
