As Bill has said your antenna may not be able to get anything if it is not there. I use the app he mentioned,TV Antenna Helper to get the direction of the broadcast towers.
I use the Rayzar to get multi directional reception from farther distances and pick up broadcasts giving me a larger area to pick from. I have no room for the Wingman.
