wineguard mv3500a (no idea what im doing)

Hello all,
Today I decided to try to look more thoroughly into the Sat system I have mounted on our new to us class a .
It's a wineguard mv3500a. The paperwork I have for the satellite system is not for this type or model.
I'm curious if any of you have this model or similar and could steer me in the right direction.
Can I just plug my home DTV receiver into the coaxial coming from the system? It's not a DVR box, just a standard HD.
Any setup process involved?
I didn't want to just go plug it in and hope it didn't ruin something.
Not even convinced we will use it too often. But I guess those rainy days will call for child entertainment.
Thanks in advance for ANY info.

Not sure why you want to have your DTV connected to your Satelite receiver, maybe I am mis-understanding your question? The satelite receiver will feed the TV. If you want to have both available, then I would expect you need to have a splitter to connect the TV to both the DTV and Satelite receiver. How you get feed to the DTV will depend on the way the coach is wired, but probably have a cable connection on the outside of the coach near the power or water hookups. You may be able to have the DTV between the Sat receiver and the TV, but that won't allow you to use the DTV as the feed is from the satelite.
  • By DTV I mean my DirecTV "cable box" I use in my stick home. Sorry my abbreviations knowledge is lacking.
Not very knowledgeable in anything satellite tv to be honest.
I press the power button and find my favorite channel. End of expertise
  • Have not heard of that antenna model. Is it an automatic or manual dish?
To answer the basic question, yes, connect the coax from the dish to the back of the receiver marked sat in, connect a short coax from to TV to the back of the TV, turn the sat box on and go through the setup procedure. Have you ever done a dish alignment or setup before? If not go through the setup menu at home and see what settings you need
  • The 3500 is a Winegard Movin' View.
Here is a link to the owners manual.

You can use your current DirecTV receiver (must be model H24 or lower) but you will need to check under the dome to see if the previous owner set the dip switches for Dish or DTV (yes, DirecTV). Otherwise, it should be a pretty simple setup.

This is perfect, thank you very much.
