Wingard Batwing antenna rotation

The Winegard Sensar "Batwing" TV antenna can not be rotated a full 360°. There is about a 10° dead spot and of course sometimes that's exactly where one needs to position the antenna.

Can the base be modified to allow a full 360° rotation?

  • I checked out my antenna and there is a stop that can be cut off. This stop is opposite the two ears that the arms stow into. If I cut off this stop, I'll have to make sure to remember which direction to turn the antenna so I don't twist off the coax!!! With my memory what it is, this could be a major problem.

The dead zone usually isn't a problem, but it happens more often then I would like.
  • Don't think so. Seems to be a rare occurrence that the best spot is in the "dead zone".
  • YES....you can go up on roof and cut off the ears on base plate...they're just on there to align/hold antenna arms in place for travel and to stop antenna from full rotation so that antenna cable doesn't get twisted around arms and ripped out of antenna head
