Here is how I fixed it.
Using a disc grinder I removed the left "ear" of the travel slot.
I fabricated a new aluminum travel slot
And glued it in place with 3M 5200 extreme adhesive. Amazing stuff for attaching things like this to fiberglass boats. It should be amazing as it costs nearly $30 a tube!
Now it lays down without obstruction
Only one "click" to the left for travel storage
