Winwguard Batwing Antenna

Does my III have an amplifier built in? If so, where does it get power?
I will get the UHF add-on to make it a IV.

  • Sorry to disagree, but my sensar didn't come from the factory with a wall plate wiith a switch, many don't.
I still had pretty fair reception.
I did add a simple inline aftermarket booster for about $30, but the best addition was the wingman.
In one rv park we pulled in 82 channels OTA.
I have pulled them in from pretty close to 65 miles.
No you don't have to have the thingamabob.
  • If you want to view OTA TV programming using your Batwing antenna then you need to get it reconnected the way it was designed. If you are trying to also add the ability to use a satellite TV receiver as well as the OTA and Cable the coach was correctly wired for from the manufacturer please let us know.
I can't see any scenario where you would be able to remove the wall plate from the mix as that's the only way the antenna gets the required 12V power. Without power being sent to the Batwing, the Batwing has a range of about 50 feet (OK, not true but not much range at all!)
  • Why would you remove power from the batwing? You just asking for worse reception.

Yes, you need the wallplate thingamabob.
  • Billsattelite, I want to eliminate the wall plate with the tiny button.
I disconnected and color coded all the Coax and ran a continuity test. I discovered that I actually have two coax going to the bedroom. One via a split-er from the Cable outside and one from the Wall plate Thingamobob. I want to re-do all that and put in A/B switches so I can have Cable, Dish, and/or Batwing to either or both TV's depending on my situation and needs. I removed the transfer stuff from my 5th wheel when I sold it and kept the switch panel that I made.
Having said all that do I still need the wall plate Thingamabob to power the Batwing or can I purchase another amplifier if needed?
    Thanks

When you push the tiny button on the wall plate that allows you to switch between Cable and OTA, the electronics inside that plate send the 12V power to the antenna via coax.
Just be sure you still have room for the antenna to lay down with the Wingman attached. If can only attach to one side of the head.
  • Through the coax. The Sensar Pro amp and peaking meter is worth the money.
