wireless Home Phone

I am thinking about getting a wireless home phone and ditching my land line. Has any one had any experience with these units, the system I am thinking about is a Verizon system. I get good service at home with my cell phone so I think it would work, they are pros and cons on the reviews I have read, I think it depends on what location you are in. All replies appreciated. Thanks Roy
  • As opposed to just ditching the land line and using only your cell phone???

The four reasons we have the wireless home phone are:

    1. We have one home number for people to call which either one of us answers as long as we are at home.

    2. It is about half what we were paying for the conventional wired phone service.

    3. The wireless box is connected to our home phone base station which connects wirelessly (different signaling from the cell phone wireless) to six phones throughout our house (plus garage & basement) which is very convenient.

    4. The home phone number is associated with our physical location for 911, emergency fire/flood/etc. notification.
  • We got rid of the landline and bought a device calledXLink. It plugs into any home phone outlet and links to our cell phones via Bluetooth. Any calls that come to the cell phones ring the house phones and can be answered on any of them. Likewise calls made from the house phones go out through the primary cell phone if it is home or the secondary cell phone if not. No more telemarketing calls at dinner time.
  • Their called Bluetooth gateways. I also have an AT&T cordless set that has Bluetooth built-in, so auto connects to cell phones for incoming/outgoing calls. Doesn't work at my house as I have virtually no mobile signal indoor/outdoor despite literally living 15 minutes form the Washington Monument. :h
