Sorry Bumpyroad was that your attempt at a constructive comment? The OP paid $1100 for a camera when a $300 P&S will do video with sound. The OP also stated that they did not want a piece of *******. Do you really think that someone who spent $1100 on a camera to shoot video will have a problem spending $125 to get decent sound? You also might let the OP poster respond unless you are bored and feel the need to respond even when you have nothing of value to add.
Pro level microphones alone with nothing extra like cables, amp, dead cat, etc. will cost over $800 and for the OP's use will not work as well as the lavalier setup. If you are bored Bumpy you might spend a few minutes checking out the cost of a pro setup as it is not that difficult to do and you might actually learn something. What a concept!
