Wireless Rear View Camera Systems?

Would like to add a wireless rear view camera system on our RV (5th wheel)to aid with backing up. Total length of RV is 38 ft., truck is 22 ft. Combined when hitched up is about 52 ft.

Those of you who have installed a system, what would you recommend for our setup and where would we purchase it?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

  • I had a Class C. Sorry if you thought I had a 5th wheel or TT.

Tadibrothers.com is the best place I have found for equipment and advice. They have the largest selection and the most choices including 3 different wireless video signal amplifiers to increase the range between the camera and the receiver in the tow vehicle.

I have also mentioned Tadi Brothers on previous posts and it was as if my posts were invisible - no response. Be interesting to see if your suggestion gets any response, especially from those who bought from them.

I am also thinking of buying one of their systems because I like their selection, presentation and price. Which one did you get?

I read that wireless systems have significant reception problems. I went with a wired system from Rear View Safety and it was very good.
Hint--mount camera on inside of back window. No or less hole making and camera not exposed to elements.

A toy hauler has no rear window. I am also interested in a wireless system. How did you get the wire into the truck cab? I took out a dashboard once to mount a radio and I am not interested in doing that again.

I was unable to find the android app for this camera. Do you have a link or source? I found a German version, is the app itself in English or German?
  • I bought a Rear View Safety wireless camera guaranteed to work to 70 feet. Don't believe it. Installed it just before a 3800 mile trip and was really looking forward to being able to see behind our new, much longer, travel trailer. Worked fine sitting in the driveway. Did not work on the road. An image would pop up every 5-60 seconds, but even then it wasn't a decent pic.

Then the antenna fell off the monitor, the first day of the trip. Rear View Safety did ship a new antenna with extension cable, but of course that was well after the vacation.

I have since used the new antenna plus a much longer extension cable I purchased on E-Bay to move the camera antenna to the very front of the travel trailer. I have it pointing almost directly at the monitor in the cab.

Haven't had a chance to test it on the road, but do have a short trip planned for this weekend. I'll let you know how this setup works out.
