Wireless remote

I was looking at a camper that has a wireless remote to control the awning, jacks and slides. My question is does anyone know what the wireless tech behind this is? Bluetooth, 802.11, something else? If they are using 802.11 do they employ any encryption? Didn't see anything popup on the wireless connection of my ipad when I did a search. Not to say they can't he hiding the SSID.

Just really curious.

  • Would love to convert mine over to something like that. A lot of the factory types use rf key fobs just as thestoloffs said.
  • It's usually a short range RF transmitter in the same band as TV remotes that don't have to be pointed at the set to work.

If it has to be pointed at a sensor to receive the signal, then it's probably an infrared transmitter.

Old technologies that predate Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.
