Yellowstone, northern states cellular coverage?

We are traveling the Yellowstone and northern states, Mt Rushmore, etc. this summer. I am wondering about experiences with cellular service in these areas; reliability, spotty coverage, and such. I am...

A lot of the west/northwest is Verizon country, a disadvantage to us AT&T folks
:)
but cell service in the parks is pretty limited to the hotel/lodge areas and visitor centers.
but they are supposedly working on making that better.
