If any form of DSL, Cable or other land based service is available you will be even farther ahead than either. You just have to make the comparisons between the services available at your location and make an informed choice. Despite claimed speeds, satellite internet is going to be slower than any other service offering half the stated speeds due to the high latency involved with satellite internet.
