Don't be too hasty to assume that it is not something too serious. Yes, it could be as simple as the TV cable or it could be something substantial in the internals of the transmission such as pressure switches, solenoids, internal mechanical linkages and so on. Even three speed autos have a kickdown gear which is nothing more than a forced downshift to second gear, again controlled by a shift linkage rod or a TV cable. All I'm saying is check it out carefully, don't just accept the first easy answer.
