I'm thinking 2 wheel dolly is the way to go. But as a newb who doesn't even have an RV yet, thought I'd check and see if I needed a slap upside the head.Thinking of towing a Honda CRV behind a class C. CRV is wife's everyday driver, and will likely be replaced within a couple of years. I hate to spend a lot of money getting the car ready to flat tow, and then possibly having to do it over again in a couple of years. With setting up a car to flat tow already costing so much more, I figure buying a two wheel dolly would be a better way to go. Cheaper, and it should work with the next car.But of course, y'all have "been there, done that" and I haven't. So am I missing anything?

Whether or not to use a dolly is sort of like who likes a Ford vs a Chevy or a Dodge.For myself, I don't use one.= It's one more set of tires, electrical and bearings to maintain= It's one more thing to hook-up in the rain= Since you plan on a Class C, finding room at your spot to put it= If you can do some of the work to put a tow bar and the electrical connections on the toad yourself, you can do this car and the next one for the price of dollyBill

I spent six years full time towing.I started with a tow dolly. It served it's purpose but could be a pain to deal with.I switched to a four wheel down solution with a very basic A frame tow bar. Better but could be a pain to get it aligned just right to hook up.Finally, a Blue Ox telescoping tow bar. By far the most painless method of towing for me!!Good luck!

Sort of personal preference but my son and I prefer flat towing and he's tried both. Some campgrounds don't have a convenient place for a dolly. Not that easy to load and unload and secure the vehicle. Added weight. He flat tows a Honda CRV (not allowed with the newer ones with auto trans) and I tow a Ford Focus auto. trans. The auto transmissions which allow flat towing is shrinking so that's a point for dolly. There's nothing fun about towing with any method.
