2017 Montana High Country-Dometic Double door Refrig

My question is this - When dry camping, does the fan run on & off? We used our new rig in cold weather & never noticed the fan running but now that the warm weather finally came we are noticing this fan running should there be a concern? Or is that normal? • The fans will run and they don't care that you are dry camping.

Thank you Rob - that's what I thought. Yes its on a slide. So would this also be using more gas as well then. we never noticed the noise of the fan running. So it get more of a workout in a slide.

No - it's not using any more gas. It's just trying to get rid of the heat generated by the cooling unit. The fans will run whether the frig is on gas or electric, too.

  • The fan(s) on the back of evaporative RV friges is (are) thermostatically controlled and will run whenever the temp of the cooling unit reaches a certain level. If the frig is in a slide, the fan(s) will run more than if the frig is not in a slide. This is due to venting straight up in a non-slide frig. What you are describing sounds perfectly normal.
