- Scott_85ExplorerLook at the B&W Slider Champion, its cost a lot but you have a 100% free bed when you are done and you could tow a gooseneck if the need should ever arise.
- AllworthExplorer IISome of our friends seem to think that just throwing money at a hitch will make their life better. Not so sure about that.
I use a 16K Reese slider that is about 8 years old. Nothing automatic, but it works fine and works every time. - GoPackGoExplorerHensley all the way. I have a BD3 and really like the air ride.

Best ideas for a fifth wheel hitch for my Ram 2500 short bed? I'm ok with manual operation. Thanks.

I have had a pullrite in my SB for years but it's heavy and I'm tired of dragging it in and out of my bed all the time.
I just ordered an Andersen Ultimate Hitch that fits on the OEM gooseneck in my truck. (It also fits on standard rails). Do a web search-lots of reviews with positive feedback. - GoostoffExplorerI have a Curt in the truck right now, and it is the biggest POS I have ever seen. There is no way to lock it closed so it will work itself open while driving down the road. I have gotten to where I use a ratchet strap on the lever to keep it secure. As soon as the cold breaks I will be ordering a new B&W Patriot to replace it. All reading on this hitch have been positive, and I can get it wholesale for $350.
- RedskyExplorerThe TrailAir and similar ones will make a very big difference in ride comfort as they have both an air bag and a shock absorbers that isolate a lot of the trailer motion. Talk to the people at etrailer.com as they are very knowledgeable in this area.
- handsome51ExplorerEither go with the Trailersaver air hitch like suggested above or go with a airsafe hitch. If you want to keep the strain off your truck and trailer. This is the way to go. They are not cheap but your 5th wheel wasn't either. Make a one time buy and be happy.
- kzspree320ExplorerI went with the Pullrite Superglide so I could drive just like it was a long bed truck and never have to think about it. I had a Reese manual slider with an older fifth wheel and it would sometimes stick and be difficult. Once the Superglide is in and you are using it, you will be happy. Love mine.
- rastonExplorerI've got the Curt 20K with the slide mounted in my Dodge Ram 3500 short-bed. Had it for 3 years now. Works great... almost idiot-proof hook-up... very quiet / smooth when towing. I'd recommend it... :)
