We carry the white hoses that are specified for "drinking water". Yes, you can use a garden hose if you wish, but chemicals from the plastic/rubber can leach into your drinking water and that is why they are not rated for "drinking water". When connected to city water the hose has water sitting in it for who knows how long before water is used again. The longer the water sits in the hose before more demand, the better chance of chemicals leaching from the hose.
