Since you can take it or leave it, I would say that unless you plan on doing a lot of RVing 9say every second or third week) during the season, I would just hotel it.
As you said, it's a big investment of time (and money) and if it isn't exciting to you now, it probably wont get better.
Unless you use these things a lot, it just isn't worth it to me.
