I can not tell you if they were sacmming or not.. IT is possible that someone else came and and handed over the signature on the line while you were negotiating,, But the sales dept and manager should have known that was happening.
If you are more comfortable shoping elsewhere.. Then by all means do so.. I think I would be more comfortable shopping elsewhere.
NOTE: That happened to me on a used car purchase this summer. HOWEVER.. Since it was weeks between the initial look and the signing of the papers.. I believe my dealer.. They had several cars in my price range and in good condition. The one I most wanted.. Got sold. but #2 was actually a better car.. It stuck around. I'm towing it (Or actually looking at it since I can not tow and type at the same time).
