some makes have you install a relay to the truck fuse box.
others have you install a 20 or 25 amp Fuse.
when I purchased my Used Ford last summer. the trailer battery fuse in truck fuse box was blown... replaced it and all is good.
and NO not all truck to trailer lines are trickle charges.. mine will do 20 amps to trailer battery. YES I tested it.
