We've been full-timing now for about 3.5 years. Seen people doing so in just about every rig imaginable. All in your mindset. At least in So Cal, the housing market looks like it's starting to rebound. We, by the Grace of God, have been very blessed financially. We are finishing construction on a brand new manufactured home in an 'own your lot' 55+ community in Murrieta. Our plan is to spend 50% of our time on the road. Be 'home' for holidays & summers when kids abound in the parks. As many have expressed, my concern for your situation is financial. Consider the following: The home you own will likely appreciate. Your home on wheels will not! The more you travel, the more you spend on gas. The longer you spend in a park, the better the deal you can get on the daily rate & the less you spend on gas. I would suggest that you consider the idea of work camping. We've talked to an awful lot of great people in our travels who I understood to say that this was the way they addressed their limited finances and their desire to have the freedom to travel. (We also have friends that stay in their 'big' RV at their privately owned condo park in So Cal in the winter & take their smaller RV to work camp with concessionaires in the National Parks in the summer. They do it because they enjoy it.) You have no idea as an ex-teacher the skills you developed in dealing with the public. Your husband's military background will be seen as a plus when it comes to gently reminding violators of minor infractions. (And thank him for his service from my wife & I.)
