It depends on the range needed. Some are in inch lbs. and others in foot lbs. and even then the range can be up to 60 lbs. or up to 150 lbs. or more.
I use 3 different ones with the last one used primarily to check wheel nuts on my truck which need to be at 140 ft. lb. which is well above the range of the average torque wrench.
The ones that use a rotation to set and then release with a click when the level has been reached are the easiest to use. I do not need to look at a rod or a digital readout to see when I get to the torque level needed which makes it a great deal easier at high settings or when using the wrench in places where it cannot be viewed straight on as inside an engine compartment.
