bike rack on ladder

If you don't like the ladder idea, get a 2" receiver welded to the rear of the frame and get a rack for that or a load pallet or anything else that can go in a 2" receiver.

I used a similar one for many years to carry not only bikes but also my blue tote from Michigan to Florida and back home every fall and spring. It worked great and was just left on the ladder all the time.
I could easily work around it if I used the ladder to climb up to the roof occasionally.

If you’re scratching everything up, you’re not doing it right.
I just hauled 2 full size full suspension mtbs a 27” and 29 er all over 3 states. No scratches. Nothing wrong with a ladder rack. Not as nice as a standing rack but we’re not talking 10 grand worth of bikes here, right?

We had the ladder bike rack you show in the link. We didn't have any issues with the bikes hitting the rear wall but we did have issues getting both bikes on the mounts. the horizontal bar should be a couple of inches longer. It would be perfect for kids bikes but adult bikes can be a challenge getting them mounted. It's possible but takes some trial and error. Once mounted, we used short bungee cords to prevent the wheels from spinning and used a couple of larger bungees to make sure the bikes were really secure to the ladder. Keep in mind the bikes will get scratched as will the ladder over time.

I have a 1Up hitch platform rack for normal use. The kids bikes will be going on the hanger type...I will likely get a roof tray for my bike...

I just bought a platform bike rack (tires sit in hoops and are locked down with a post). I had a hanging bike rack for years. Never again will I use a hanging style bike rack. Find a platform bike rack for RV trailer use it.

I would find a way to protect the rear wall. Folding bikes for the kids is not viable given cost and how quickly they outgrow them. They already have bikes...

Yes, I had a ladder-mount bike rack for two kid's bikes and it worked well.

My opinion is that the rear wall will take a beating. I suggest getting folding bikes and carry them inside the RV or truck.
