Boat or RV ?

We are finally retired. We can't decide which between a boat or a class A motorhome.

We have never owned either one.

Anyone ever been here and how did you decide ? Are you happy with your choice ?
  • Hello & congrats on the retirement! FWIW, my 2 happiest days of owning a boat were the day I bought it and the day I sold it. But honestly that may differ depending on so many variables. Living in PA I found the boating season just too short. Also in my humble opinion owning a RV has far more options on where you can go. Not too many people toting a boat around the nation. They usually buy them and pick a lake or ocean harbor to dock them in. If you think gas prices are high on the roads, wait till you see what a marina charges. As the saying goes- Your mileage may vary, and this isn't meant to knock anyone who loves life on the water, it just didn't last for me.

Good luck whatever your choice may be.:)
  • If you want to travel around the country then perhaps the MH is the better option. What you plan to do with a boat is yours to decide. I've owned a boat and never again. You can of course get a MH and tow a boat.
  • We went fifth wheel as we like being able to travel to different areas, then we picked up a small boat that I can use for fishing or us for day trips, and I can still pull it behind the fiver. A class A could do the same
