Bombing for insects

Hi to all.
The wife and I are gonna be moving into and possible buying a used TT in April. With that being said what do y'all recommend to bomb for any bed bugs, fleas, etc. before moving in? We don't know if there is any critters there but just wanna be sure there is not.
Thanks
  • Just know that a bug bomb is rated for use in a house that has several times the square footage as your RV.

There is also a warning on the label on how small an area you can use one can. AND, There is a warning on the label about using it within the location of propane.

If you or your family has any allergy or breathing issues there IS a residue left in the RV that will cause problems. AND it can be a serious problem for pets too. As you will be drenching the RV at higher levels than recommended for "safe" use due to the small space.

I would NEVER use a bug bomb in an RV. Just saying.
  • We bomb occasionally too. Mostly for the ones we can't see. Its an eye opener to see all the dead bugs you never knew were there.

We bomb at least once per year.

To prevent explosion, be sure to kill ALL power. Disconnecting the battery is best and easiest.
  • A bug bomb set off and left for 24 hours once a year or so is all we do. Bed bugs are best treated by treating the mattress & sealing in plastic. Never had them in an RV.
  • First off, purchase a new mattress. Nothing more nasty than sleeping on a mattress that somebody else used. Pay the price, go to any place that sells a mattress and get a new one.

Meanwhile, remove the old mattress and "bomb away".

Repeat the "bomb away" in 10-12 days so any eggs that might have been hatched, new bugs will be killed before they mature and can reproduce.

WARNING! You're likely to get posts warning about bug bombing inside the camper and possible explosion! That's a bunch of hog wash! You'd have set off something like 300 thousand bug bombs all at the same time to cause an explosion! I think Myth Buster on television debunked the bug bomb exploding house theory a long time ago.

Set of one bomb at the front of the camper and one at the back. In 30 minutes the mist will be gone. Do nothing. In a few days repeat. After the second bombing, wipe off counters and any surfaces you touch. Vacuum the carpet and you're good to go.

    Repeat in a year.

We bug bomb at least once every year with this process, mostly in the middle of the summer to keep fleas at bay!
  • How long do those creatures live sans humans? I think I'd clean it out and let it sit empty for that time.
  • Do not believe any commercial bug bombs will kill bed bugs. Having said that, yes I do bomb about once a year.
