- Sprink-FitterExplorerWe have a 150 gallon fresh water tank so we can go for awhile without needing more water.
- hermyExplorerdear jmccen58- yeah, there is always a smart aleck out there, isn't there?! And I'm thinking that several responders don't really understand boondocking. We often spend several weeks off the grid and yes, water can be a hassle. In some areas there are vending machines that dispense purified water. We always carry a 7 gallon water jug at a minimum and use that to top off our tank in the rig. Some of our friends carry much more than that. We also buy or bring several 1 gallon jugs to use for fresh drinking and cooking water. Many business' will allow you to fill your jugs if you ask and you are doing business with them. I have seen other serious boondockers carry 30 or 40 gallons of fresh water in a drum.

I get mine from the 40 gallon tank that is under my trailer. That's why that tank is there. Never leave home without it full.
Insiteful....Thanks:? - wa8yxmExplorer IIII like the first responder. only my tank is 80 gallons.
I spend MOST of my time in licensed campgrounds now that I'm full time, before that I sometimes filled at home. But I can go 2 weeks on 80 gallons. - mboppExplorerThe local Flying J has a RV dump station and also flush and fresh water faucets.
- 2oldmanExplorer IIFrom at Walmart.
- RoyBExplorer IIWhen camping off the power grid we always carry a couple of fresh water totes and a couple of gals of bottled water for cooking and making our fresh ground bean coffee.
We will fill up our 30GAL tank before we get back in the woods for showers and washing dishes etc...
We also carry a couple of gray water totes to catch our sink water... We most always are able to find a place to dispose of the gray water at the campgrounds.
ICE CUBES and STEAKS makes us go look for them somewhere close by...
Our 6GAL BLACK WATER WASTE Cassette Potti tote can easlly be dumped down the toilet at a bath room somewhere.
Full blown WALMARTS are neat as they have everything you need in the store... Thats why they like for you to sleep over one night...
Roy Ken - MuddydogsExplorerSome dump stations have drinking water. Google RV dump stations and you will find list of them by State and City's, some charge a fee and some ask for donations. Most camp grounds have a fee dump station where you can fill your tanks.
I have heard of guys going as far as filling 5 gallon jugs out of restroom sinks to get a free 5 gallons using a water thief. - GrandpereExplorerWe fill our fresh water tank before we leave and go to a CG to refill and empty holding tanks.
- bid_timeNomad III get mine from the 40 gallon tank that is under my trailer. That's why that tank is there. Never leave home without it full.
