broken windows

Has anybody seen or heard of windows breaking because of hot weather? Went to the storage lot today & found two broken windows, shattered as if hit with a rock or shot out. The storage lot owner says he circled the lot this morning and the windows were fine. He said he had another customer last week that had their window break because of the heat. My rv was parked in the middle of lot because of maintenance being done around the perimeter of the fence and there was no obvious break in. Thanks for any information.

  • I worked in the auto industry for 37 years. It is not that uncommon for safety glass to fail from heat. But, a car can be very tight, and build up pressure and heat. There were discussions about poor glass from supplier, faulty window mechanism, even chemicals from the interior materials (think, FEMA trailers). Some times windows just blew. Having said all that, I'd look for B Bs on the floor of the rig.
  • I'd bet my money on either a weedeater, lawnmower or vandalism.
Windows don't break because of heat.
  • Thank you all for the responses. I would love to reply to each one, but have to get off to work now. Will check back tomorrow. Thanks again.
  • I live in south Texas that breaks heat records every summer. I have never heard of something like that. The storage lot owner is trying to cover his rearend.
  • Any lawn mowing going on? Mowers throw rocks quite a distance.
  • I would think if the glass is on the ground it broke due to heat. If any glass is inside the camper the force came from someone or something breaking it.

Someone is breaking those windows on purpose and the guy that works there gave you that story so you won't pursue them for damages.

This. It is rare for a window to break from heat, (not impossible, but rare) much less have that many in one location. Someone is breaking them. Do they have a surveillance system?
