Based on the nearly complete lack of consumer protection law in New Jersey I would be looking for something out of state to buy. First decide on the models and range of years that will work for you and then you can look for those specifically with craigslist and searchtempest and even doing Google searches.
A great many RV companies went out of business in 2007-2008 with the US bankster crashing of the economy. Great deals on RV's where the manufacturer is no longer in business. Friends lost about a third of the value of their motorhome when the company that manufactured theirs went out of business and they lost many tens of thousands as a result.
RV's in remote areas will require a greater investment to check out but they are going to be priced for a lot less than those in major market areas where there are lots of potential buyers.
I have come across some great deals in Florida where a spouse becomes to ill to continue traveling or dies or where someone moves into an area that does not allow RV's on the property. I would not hesitate to fly to Florida to save $15K or more on an RV.
