Found what we want, Livinlite VRV 7x20 and the local dealer right up the road is quoting me $5k more than what I have found online that I can get shipped to me. So about $4k more after shipping.
The local dealer says if I buy non-local that they can't do the warranty work if if has problems.
This doesn't seem right.
Is he being upfront here?
your first problem is that there are very few Livin'Lite dealers, as they are a small volume manufacturer. really a niche market.
so that makes them way more expensive that similar sized trailers.
and yes, they can refuse to do warranty work, because the RV industry doesn't work like the Auto industry.
but most manufacturers will allow you to have warranty work done at an independent RV shop, IF you get pre-approval from the manufacturer and are willing to pay up front and wait for the reimbursement.
but i'd call the company, since they are a small one and ask them what your options are. also might inform them about this local dealer's attitude. it's not that they "can't" do the warranty work, it's that they "won't" do it.
