It is a relatively common position for a dealer to take especially when it is a customer and rig they were negotiating on. Another important consideration is problems that arise after deliver that should have been covered by the selling dealer's PDI. Things like rattles, squeaks, mis-aligned doors, scratches etc. etc. etc. The only dealer that is going to work on those issues will be the selling dealer. If they are 1000 miles away, or are nothing but a website, you will be completely out of luck on those issues since the selling dealer is paid to perform that PDI and it is not covered under any warranty.
As an Aside, I have never had any problems getting warranty work done if my address showed I was out of the trade area where I needed the work done.
