Buying stripped down model?

Just buy an old trailer and gut it. I'm interested in what you will put in it.

A 4 year warranty on a metal box on well built chassis without any factory built in mechanical systems sounds like it could happen.

Based on the posters profile, I doubt that a cargo trailer would be a good option. I don't think the OP has the resources, ability, or experience to build her own living quarters in a box trailer. Maybe a small trailer manufacturer would be willing to build one without all the standard features. If not, maybe find a skilled person or RV service company that would remodel her trailer (or another) to her specs might be a better option. It all sounds a little kooky to me but certainly do-able if she has the budget to support a project like that.

Just curious.... what are you going to cook with if you don't use propane?

I don't have the name, but a couple of years ago I found a company that would build a small toyhauler style bumper pull trailer anywhere from completely empty to whatever systems I wanted inside. It was affordable too. Maybe google small toy hauler trailer to see if you can find the company. They might offer conventional bodies too. I want to say the company was in AZ.

I believe Taylor Coach which is 20 minutes from here still does ... just shoot Brad Taylor an email and ask. Yes, it's a Canadian company but they do sell to many US customers. A 4 yr warranty on the coach itself, unheard of in the RV manufacturing business, doesn't hurt either. :)

some box trailer manufactures.... do install windows and vents.. just ask...

8x20 foot box trailer...
friend install beds... sink, cabinets, overhead lights..

The assembly lines used for building RVs won't work to build a bare box.

Plus they must put certain things in to obtain RVIA certification. Without that the rig cannot be an RV.

That will restrict you from being able to use many camping locations bacause to do so you must have a "self-contained" camping unit.

An alternative to starting with a bare box trailer is to find a used TT in good structural condition, rip out the interior and rebuild the interior yourself. I've seen a couple done as you describe.

I caution you on the composting toilet. I've seen two of those in rigs, and they are not sufficient size to handle the waste from two people completely. Be sure to get a firm estimate of how quickly waste is processed and made safe for disposal.

You must also have a way to hold gray water, and likely some black water.
