Cable and Internet Availability

Hi,
We are brand new to RVing and are planning a 6-month trip across the US. Sadly, we are addicted to TV and internet. I'm trying to decide if I need to invest in mobil satellite tv and mobil broadband internet or if I can rely on both being available at the campsites we choose along the way.

Any thoughts or advice would be very welcome.

Thanks!

  • We thought the same thing after we were both retired and rv travelling a bunch more. We had the satellite equipment but found that we very, very seldom used it. Over the air and cable television was just as good and often better because we didn't need a clear view for the receiver. We traded for a coach without satellite and I doubt we will ever get one again.
  • We are junkies as well. We tend to stay in RV Resorts where WiFi usually meets our needs. We do have Dish Satellite for TV and movies streaming and it works well even out in the middle of the desert 60 miles from the nearest town.

For internet access when WiFi isn't available but cell service is we use it.
We have an unlimited data plan so we don't have to worry about going over a usage limit which can be very expensive.

Here's a couple of sites with detailed info about tech for RVers

    www.technomedia.com
www.rv-dreams.com they got rid of their satellite internet service and use WiFi or Cell service.
