Aug 24, 2013Here's a novel idea:
If you don't like generator noise, don't stay in campgrounds where they are allowed.
I have a 405 watt solar system that allows me to run the TV, satellite receiver, computers and other miscellaneous electronics most of the day without using the generator. However, the wife likes to make her coffee using an electric coffee maker and we turn on the generator for about 15 minutes as early as it is permissible. And that can be as early as 6:00 a.m. in some campgrounds. We usually run the generator for about an hour during dinner time to use the microwave and give the batteries a boost for late night TV watching.
I get very aggravated with people that run their generators all day to watch TV without an inverters or God knows for what other reason. Needless to say, in the bunch, there is always at least one person using a noisy contractor grade generator that can be heard a mile away.
If I'm not willing to put up with all the racquet, I have a choice. Don't stay in campgrounds where excessive generators hours are allowed.
