I always let my engine warm for a few minutes until things have a chance to get to flowing good, gas and diesel. First thing in the morning @ moderately cool mornings is less than very cold mornings. I've never felt a need to idle for an hour, but if you can't handle 10-15 minutes, please accept my apologies now. After leaving, I just baby it until the temp needle rises a bit.
Opon shut down, I follow the recommendations in the owners manual. At least five minutes especially after long steep pulls with heavy loads. My turbo saver does this for me. Great little gadget!
In cold weather we lave the engine block heater on at night, then we be ready to go as soon as the rest of the getting ready stuff is done.
