Yes, they all get a bad rap for that monicker. in reality, only the cheapest, poorly made Chinese tires are the China Bombs!
Correct:
Years back Fine Woodworking did an article on production of wood-working machines in Taiwan. At the time there was a popular idea that all wood-working machines made in Taiwan were crap.
They showed, that yes, the cheap machines made in Taiwan were crap, but the really expensive ones, sometimes with "main-line" labels, were not.
The biggest problem in Chinese production is not the "crap", but their willingness to "clone" production, and usually in the process make it poorly, and the governments willingness to allow companies to do this.
A guy I know moved production of his "widget" to China, he discovered that a "cousin" of the plant owner was making a clone of his "widget" and selling it as the original. It was, of course, made cheaper and sold cheaper.
How he discovered this was the "clone" even copied the paperwork, including the warranty and contact info.
So he was getting LOTS of warranty claims for stuff he never made nor sold.
He also could not get anyone in China to do anything about the copying.
