There is no way you will need that big a generator for your needs. Keep an eye on CL for a smaller one that will do the job.
When you are looking for your van look for what is called E track on the walls. It is bracket system that is quite universal in the logistics world. You can find shelving, straps and anchoring devices compatible and could save fabrication effort.
Good luck, sounds very feasible to me,although I would start with a c
cut away instead of a standard van, just for the additional room.

I know I don't need a generator that big. But I have been looking around and that is actually one of the least expensive ones I can find.

Considering all your medical problems I would not recommend living in a van. A small class B or C I would recommend. I know it is probably not what you want to hear as it appears you have already made your decision and are asking for confirmation.
A small RV is no more a risk factor for vandalism than a van. It appears that your concern is more about parking violation while camping A RV meets all the legal zoning and health codes for habitation. A RV will have just as good resale options as a van.
You will still be able to utilize your inverter and battery system in a RV due to your need of the CPAP which must be powered over night. There are RV affordable in your price range......

I'm not looking for confirmation as you put it. I already know the basic idea of what I want to do and how I want to do it. I'm looking for ideas on what to do with what I have already picked out, ideas that would make it easier, less expensive, etc. As for reselling the van or RV, again, point is being missed... With an RV, it's an RV and will always be an RV. With my plans for the van, it is a van first and foremost. I am going to be making modifications to it to have the functionality of an RV. When I don't need it to be an RV, I take out what I don't need to be in the van and it becomes a cargo van again. I dislike wasting money on single purpose things. If I can't use it for more then 1 job or purpose then it's useless to me unless I absolutely can't get along without it. And the plain fact is, I don't want a full time RV at this point. I just need this to fill certain specific needs.
As for your suggestion of RVs in my price range, $6500 is way beyond my price range... I can purchase a used cargo van for $2500 or less. I can get the items I need to insulate the van for just a couple hundred dollars. I already have the furniture. I just need to get electrical power items and some stuff to cook with. My funds are limited. I will be using money I get from student loans to pay for this project. The public transit system in my area sucks. Commuting by bus within my own county is bad enough. Commuting to another county in which the bus system is even worse then my own county is just that much worse. The cost of buying a car, insurance, fuel, maintaining the car, tabs, and insurance is bad enough... Add to that the commute and the fact that all it is is a car... Not worth it.
