Lots of people there with "home-builts" of various sizes and types. Many of them start by salvaging another type of RV such as a pop-up or small travel trailer that has rotted out but has good electrical systems and fixtures.
However, on a recent thread most of them admitted that even with salvage works, most of them would be lucky to get out of re-sale what materials cost they had invested (i.e., none of the labor)

Why not just buy a van conversion and live in that? There's some resale in it and at least it'll be safe.
Half the fun in this project is the satisfaction I'll get from doing it myself. Where's the fun in buying something already built?
