Have you ever looked at the frame construction of popups? There is not a lot there. A lot of forces are generated at, and from, the spring bar attachment point back to the axle attachment points. Our 2010 Palomino had an entire page in the manual dedicated to not using weight distribution which they claimed could damage the frame. I believe the A frame and main rails were 3" light gauge C"s, maybe 14ga, and it was one of the largest/heaviest models they made at the time.
