From many years of detailing my Corvette's and Mustangs...
Never use dish washing products (Dawn, ect) as it will strip off any wax that's on there now. Use any of the better car washing liquids.
When waxing, avoid using carnuaba based wax's on tape stripes/graphics. It causes them to eventually dry/fade/crack. Use any of the synthetic base products like Turtle Wax Ice. Nice thing about products like Ice is that if any gets on plastic or black moulding, it comes right off and leaves no residue. If your graphics are painted on, use anything you want.
If it's harsh enough to remove black streaks, than it will remove wax also.
Products like Turtle Wax Ice and Ice Detailer may not last as long as a good coat of carnauba paste wax, but there much easier to apply and buff off. Can do a car like my wifes Outback in 30 minutes.
If you have tinted windows, don't use any products that contain amonia. Product called Invisible Glass is great stuff, available at any auto or Wally world store.
Visit Auto Geek's web site. Hundred's of products there to clean/protect anything on your car/truck/rv. There a bit high on price, but there's a lot of good tips on cleaning and detailing. Alot of their products can be found on Amazon for less $$$.
